Beggars are not choosers but here public choose beggar to represent them

Beggars are not choosers but here public choose beggar to represent them. Apart from a beggar, Narayan Nat of the Shahbarsa village in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun district now has a new identity, surpanch, gram pradhan or village head. This beggar had never dreamt of achieving the status he enjoys today. To Narayan Nat, aged around 60 years everything still appears like a dream. He cannot even now take as reality that the people who once drove him away are now giving him respect and talking to him in the most polite way. It's unbelievable to him even though it is the reality. Begging is his family business. From generations they are into it. He has confirmed that he is not going to take up any other medium for survival and will continue to beg as usual. He has no complaint to the almighty for making him a beggar, instead he is thankful to god as he gets sufficient alms and help from the villagers for survival.
Narayan Nat’s reaching the chair of village head is a very interesting story. The former village heads of all times had never performed satisfactorily in carrying out developmental projects of the village. This made the villagers think of making Narayan a candidate, as a sign of protest. They made Nat apply for the post as an experiment too. Nat filed the nomination paper for the post of Pradhan on the support of the villagers who helped him and family survive by giving alms. They campaigned wholeheartedly for him, managed everything and ultimately he emerged victorious, though there were 10 other candidates vying for the post of village head.
Some of the locals are helping him to do the work of a gram pradhan. Local journalists too have joined them in making him aware of his new job, as he actually doesn’t know about the responsibilities of a gram pradhan. The illiterate Pradhan is now learning to read, write and to sign on papers too!!!!.
He is getting a fixed amount of Rs.1,500 besides other financial grants for taking up developmental schemes in the village. It is worth mentioning that he spends his monthly honorarium for the development of the village. He doesn't have to worry about his survival as he knows he would continue to receive alms - may be more than the usual as people will now come to him in large numbers to get their problems addressed.

He knows nothing; and he thinks he knows everything. That points clearly to a political career.

Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children.
A country’s future depends on its political system and politicians. But our political system seems to be heading nowhere. There are no words to describe the levels our politicians can stoop to. Even in crucial hours of national tragedy, they flaunt a smile asking for votes. Perhaps it is time we have better and more rational political readers. Ours the biggest democracy in the world needs educated politicians. Before the flame in us is snuffed we should bring a revolution to make ourselves proud of us and our representatives not in just thoughts but real action. It doesn't matter which party the elected representative belongs to. Present politicians of India have no ideology. Choice of the best man for the job without worrying about his party must be the rule. The days of rotten boroughs of the medieval time, full of grasping paternalistic communities with un-healthy concentration of power amongst the daffy caste groups is over. We the taxpayers have a right to know and direct how our hard earned money is being spent.
The educated elite definitely could do better than the present day politicians, if duly promoted and supported by the people at large. For this, one has to work hard, learn what is administration, and the rules of the law, which is possible only by the fitly educated. Can’t we have people in the state well read and apparently sophisticated with power to execute the right law? Is this not needed in a democracy?. Will this not enable them to know what they are and their efficiencies to question their leaders who wrong without a fear, as they mean and know what they speak?. Education which is undoubtedly important can save the system of politics which is so corrupt. There are too many uneducated already in politics with ultra nice and deep foundation of wealth and power. They will never allow this type of a change so fast. These politicians who have gained their seats as we have elected them also must accept a reform in the political system which will bring in nothing but good. Consciousness to read a person from different sources and make a decision based on that will enable to choose the right one. Qualification should not be in terms of only degrees but a generalized test of IQ and EQ for those who have a basic of a bachelor’s degree is essential.
The governance structure must be oriented towards fair distribution of public goods to all and not the distribution to those who can shout the loudest. We fought for democracy but it seems that we are fast returning to aristocracy on witnessing the live examples of politicians nominating their kith and kin for top political posts to which they are inefficient even in many more births, when the really efficient are ignored, sidelined and made to sit as a dummy in the dais. The country needs a change at the helm of affairs - the politicians who have swindled the country's wealth have to go. They should not be allowed to swindle further They must be made to surrender the wealth they have amassed
Blending of politics with education is the need of the hour right now. Now anybody who is considered unfit for any other profession based on his educational qualifications would gladly enter politics. It is very convenient as no degree of any sort is required for this.(The last resort of a scoundrel) It is this very attitude that needs a reversal. Governing a country of this size is no small business or joke. Education creates awareness about its needs, the functioning and modalities of its various systems, applying science and technology for its growth and ways to tackle the assortment of issues biting into our economy. Education is required for not only finding a solution but understanding it as well. It broadens one's vision and perspective to think clearly.
Why is the retirement age be limited only to the working class of the country? Why should it not be applicable to the politicians (the non working but earning class) of our country who rule us. Why should they continue to enjoy all the perks and benefits of the Government at the expense of the common man in the country?
We should allow the youth and the educated class into politics and let them frame the rules, not the old men who all through their life have been battling for power. People in their ripe age are more energetic, enthusiastic and hence will have a much positive attitude towards progress. To be the MP,MLA,MLC, Prime Minister or Chief Minister involves a great amount of responsibility, requires quick decision making skills which can be abundantly found in the young blood rather than the old weak ones. More over aging brings in a lot of physical and mental debilities which hold or retard these elderly leaders carry out their sensing and executing ability with the reflex it needs in all fields which is unaffordable to the present ultra technological timeThis doesn’t mean that the old are useless. They bring great amount of experience with them. As their experience really matters a lot, they must serve as honorable advisory members. But once on the board they should never start interfering with the decision making procedure unless they have an exceptional track record throughout their political history.
The Government should set up a world class institute on political science, economics, administration and such other skills on the lines of Indian Institute of Management to train the youth on political administration like Indian Administrative Services. The graduates of these institutes should never be brought down to the level of the present IAS officials. (who are depreciated as mere servants (Government) for drafting projects and notes for the ignorant , illiterate, over egoist ministers, letting the able, vibrant, educated to administrate and execute and taught the real art to bring round sharp and rough corners smooth, rust their brains. They should rather be allowed to rule the state after gaining experience.)In the final semester all the political parties should line up in the campuses of these as of the other streams of education to recruit the really efficient from campus. They should be offered practical training on administration, of course the clean administration. And then during election times they should be allowed to contest.. They will make the lot we need, who are lively and courageous enough to take steps to feed and free the country’s down trodden poor lot. No decision can please a whole country, but good decisions that will please the majority and make the country worth its name is sure to come from them.

A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.

My way of joking is to tell the truth. It is the funniest joke in the world.

When a baby is born it is provided with the minimum required arts for survival. The body that kept it safe inside, right from the time of fulfillment of the carnal pleasures of two individuals( the male and the female) resulting in its being, through a long chain of processes till it is brought into the outer world providing all that it needed, is the only thing it can sense right after birth. The warmth which it enjoyed inside the mother, though not fully, is enjoyed by being together with the mother. Here the inborn instinct draws it further to mother for its first food outside the womb through its mouth, breast milk of mother, the divine food saturated with all heavenly and earthly bliss like love, care, pride, happiness, dearness ……Then on the baby starts sensing the new world through its solicitous mother first from her nearness or farness. Slowly it accommodates by developing visual and audio abilities. Mother’s sight makes its face unexplainably radiant with happiness and the lullaby induces the wonderful sleep. It slowly responds to different sounds produced by the mother. These sounds though bear no meanings, form the first interaction between the mother and the child and hence can be taken as a language. There upon whatever the mother speaks, the child responds in some way is the dearest outcome of the infusion of same blood, love and warmth. Here alphabets, words, phrases or sentences slowly come in and this language we refer as mother tongue. This is the language a person has learned from birth or speaks the best and is often the basis for his/her sociolinguistic identity.

Now, parents out of over ambition or blindly following different societies which they consider superior imbibe and get inclined to certain false notions like by speaking their mother tongue the children would not be able to speak English language well. It is a disgrace that we are rearing a generation of children who cannot speak their own language, who cannot pronounce their own names right.

Parent’s mentality is such that they feel it's a symbol of high rank society if children can't speak their native language*. They even pride themselves in such stupidity and foolishness of going even to the extend of saying that their children don’t know their native language*.(*mother tongue is omitted here to avoid disgrace to mothers whom I place next to God) To put in Malayalam the pride comes out as “ korschu korachu malyalettil parayum” To the question “Achan Evide” a clarification ‘You mean dad?’.A generation without or who don’t know Achan!!!

It is regrettable that our languages are on the verge of extinction and is equally shameful that even in communication on posters and other advertisement materials our local languages are not written well both orthographically and grammatically. What do we make out of a society that cannot communicate effectively with its people? Language is the symbol of our identity we must revive it to protect our identity.

Another headache is that the so called English our children are forced to speak is substandard. A new name for it.(MANGLISH) The end result is double, as the children cannot speak correct and proper English while they are already aliens to their mother tongue. Is it taken as the beginning of brain colonization. ( If so, sorry da)We have people who can't speak their mother tongue or the English that they are so proud of Colonial slaves. Language is the number one identification of the culture of a people. Once we lose our language the annihilation of our culture has started.
Even if the only thing we manage to do is to teach small children in their mother tongues, this will be no mean achievement. We will make these children internalise concepts better. We will provide jobs to teachers - and indeed create teachers - of our language. We will give due recognition to our languages. We will give the message that our languages, and by extension our cultures and real selves, are not contemptible. We will perhaps save our languages from the forces of globalisation, neo-imperialism and elitism, which threaten to kill our languages and force us to operate only in elitist language or become marginalized, powerless and contemptible even in our own eyes. Our mother tongue is more than a language, it is the soul that lives inside us. It is an armory of the human mind; an archive of history. We invent our world through language and bring it to life.
This is just in one tiny corner of India. Look at the vast span of this nation and we will figure why, as India asserts itself as one nation, one people, millions of local voices are being silenced. Many of these are tiny voices but they represent the magic and the mystique of India. As these voices die out, so will songs, poetry, folk tales, theatre, local histories, the rich tapestry of sounds and words that make us the amazing nation we are. So it’s not only about languages vanishing. It’s also about histories and cultures disappearing. It is about traditions, never archived, dying out one by one, to leave behind a richer, stronger but lesser India.

Let us love our mother tongue, mother country and her culture which is unique and rich. In the process just neglect or discard the Manglish promoters, they be print, audio or visual media.
