He knows nothing; and he thinks he knows everything. That points clearly to a political career.
Youth is a wonderful thing. What a crime to waste it on children.
A country’s future depends on its political system and politicians. But our political system seems to be heading nowhere. There are no words to describe the levels our politicians can stoop to. Even in crucial hours of national tragedy, they flaunt a smile asking for votes. Perhaps it is time we have better and more rational political readers. Ours the biggest democracy in the world needs educated politicians. Before the flame in us is snuffed we should bring a revolution to make ourselves proud of us and our representatives not in just thoughts but real action. It doesn't matter which party the elected representative belongs to. Present politicians of India have no ideology. Choice of the best man for the job without worrying about his party must be the rule. The days of rotten boroughs of the medieval time, full of grasping paternalistic communities with un-healthy concentration of power amongst the daffy caste groups is over. We the taxpayers have a right to know and direct how our hard earned money is being spent.
The educated elite definitely could do better than the present day politicians, if duly promoted and supported by the people at large. For this, one has to work hard, learn what is administration, and the rules of the law, which is possible only by the fitly educated. Can’t we have people in the state well read and apparently sophisticated with power to execute the right law? Is this not needed in a democracy?. Will this not enable them to know what they are and their efficiencies to question their leaders who wrong without a fear, as they mean and know what they speak?. Education which is undoubtedly important can save the system of politics which is so corrupt. There are too many uneducated already in politics with ultra nice and deep foundation of wealth and power. They will never allow this type of a change so fast. These politicians who have gained their seats as we have elected them also must accept a reform in the political system which will bring in nothing but good. Consciousness to read a person from different sources and make a decision based on that will enable to choose the right one. Qualification should not be in terms of only degrees but a generalized test of IQ and EQ for those who have a basic of a bachelor’s degree is essential.
The governance structure must be oriented towards fair distribution of public goods to all and not the distribution to those who can shout the loudest. We fought for democracy but it seems that we are fast returning to aristocracy on witnessing the live examples of politicians nominating their kith and kin for top political posts to which they are inefficient even in many more births, when the really efficient are ignored, sidelined and made to sit as a dummy in the dais. The country needs a change at the helm of affairs - the politicians who have swindled the country's wealth have to go. They should not be allowed to swindle further They must be made to surrender the wealth they have amassed
Blending of politics with education is the need of the hour right now. Now anybody who is considered unfit for any other profession based on his educational qualifications would gladly enter politics. It is very convenient as no degree of any sort is required for this.(The last resort of a scoundrel) It is this very attitude that needs a reversal. Governing a country of this size is no small business or joke. Education creates awareness about its needs, the functioning and modalities of its various systems, applying science and technology for its growth and ways to tackle the assortment of issues biting into our economy. Education is required for not only finding a solution but understanding it as well. It broadens one's vision and perspective to think clearly.
Why is the retirement age be limited only to the working class of the country? Why should it not be applicable to the politicians (the non working but earning class) of our country who rule us. Why should they continue to enjoy all the perks and benefits of the Government at the expense of the common man in the country?
We should allow the youth and the educated class into politics and let them frame the rules, not the old men who all through their life have been battling for power. People in their ripe age are more energetic, enthusiastic and hence will have a much positive attitude towards progress. To be the MP,MLA,MLC, Prime Minister or Chief Minister involves a great amount of responsibility, requires quick decision making skills which can be abundantly found in the young blood rather than the old weak ones. More over aging brings in a lot of physical and mental debilities which hold or retard these elderly leaders carry out their sensing and executing ability with the reflex it needs in all fields which is unaffordable to the present ultra technological timeThis doesn’t mean that the old are useless. They bring great amount of experience with them. As their experience really matters a lot, they must serve as honorable advisory members. But once on the board they should never start interfering with the decision making procedure unless they have an exceptional track record throughout their political history.
The Government should set up a world class institute on political science, economics, administration and such other skills on the lines of Indian Institute of Management to train the youth on political administration like Indian Administrative Services. The graduates of these institutes should never be brought down to the level of the present IAS officials. (who are depreciated as mere servants (Government) for drafting projects and notes for the ignorant , illiterate, over egoist ministers, letting the able, vibrant, educated to administrate and execute and taught the real art to bring round sharp and rough corners smooth, rust their brains. They should rather be allowed to rule the state after gaining experience.)In the final semester all the political parties should line up in the campuses of these as of the other streams of education to recruit the really efficient from campus. They should be offered practical training on administration, of course the clean administration. And then during election times they should be allowed to contest.. They will make the lot we need, who are lively and courageous enough to take steps to feed and free the country’s down trodden poor lot. No decision can please a whole country, but good decisions that will please the majority and make the country worth its name is sure to come from them.
A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.
