All that glitters is not gold
Is the proverb first I learned;
Was it right or wrong know not
Teacher told me forget not.
Once I got two bits of gold
Proud was always for its hold,
Friends and foes got envied
For my luck that none denied.
Kept them close my heart always
Giving warmth and strength by ways,
Dreaming of the brightest time
Which would bring the happy fame.
Time as usual rolled like flash
Pretty two have grown so fast,
Taught them both to earn their bread
That was easy for their mode.
I with cudgel guarded them
In my wake and sleep as well,
Helping enjoy life in form
In this world of unfair dell.
Nature’s law holds good for all
Young or old has no detour,
Ages seven that shaksphere tell
Sixth now take me in its toll.
Sense and strength stay wide apart
Like the sky and holy earth,
Seem both always stay intact
But they really meet nowhere.
So far did I find no one
In whose hands my wealth is safe,
Know not how long will I search
For my health is heifer’s heft.
Sleepless nights are giving fear
Of uncompleted duties left,
Hopping always had I never
Born to bear this rancor test.
Slumber quitted from my life
Tell me how to get it back,
Or else welcome Thanatos
Who will bless me final sleep.
