The Kerala Catholic Federation today came out with their “supreme decision” in Newman college issue to dismiss Prof T J Joseph, who was attacked by Popular Front of India activists for preparing a questioning paper which allegedly hurt the sentiments of their community; a 'talibanism', which again is practiced by the Catholic church by chopping off his livelihood.
The Catholic Bishops' Conference of India and the Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council have transgressed all the boundaries of 'morality' by justifying the heinous act of the college management.
Things are just not the way it seems. Political parties are the tap root for the talibanisation along with some other beneficiaries who take the balance toll. We are once again seeing the upsurge of these religious politics now targeting the Indian culture as the maniacs are just targeting their vote bank.
Muslims were underprivileged, poor people, suppressed by the deeds of other groups and government as well. But now, things have changed. They talk about being virtuous but in reality beasts, devil’s advocates etc .No one can support them any more in his whole life, accounting their actions. Recent incidents have underlined the facts that the world says, that there are groups in them with whom one shouldn't befriend. Peace they say, their deeds are barbarous. They talk long hours preaching the peacefulness of Islam, but fail to prove their speech of peace. One can’t see any peace here!! Think how Mr. Joseph reacted to his mishap? He said exactly what Jesus said on cross, "Father forgive these ignorant, they don’t know what they are doing". But how and why this has become a misunderstanding. What exactly did Prof. Joseph do wrong? This misunderstanding has cost him his right arm. Just think from his position. Imagine one missing halfway from the forearm, that also the right side. Even he be an ambidextrous, further survival is possible only with the help of somebody. Nobody cares to think about it and the pain he went through. No words can express his pain, loss and helplessness. Joseph is just a human. He doesn’t have the power to cut off his senses during this action which is next to crucifixion. A hand! when one looks at his own hands while using for his basic primary needs, will feel terribly disappointed, sad, angry, know not what all emotions. An octogenarian mother seeing her son’s hand chopped with an axe, just as a log? His daughter, son, his sister; a nun who has devoted her whole life to serve the humanity, and his wife? The helplessness of a whole family to witness their own blood and flesh savaged!! Even some who happened to witness might have fainted on the spot! Many would even wake up from sleep seeing bad dreams. Not because of the fear of those unwanted elements. But of the thought that how fast these savages transform in to cannibalism. A shock passes while thinking the way people go mad in the name of religion. Why did they do this to him? If Muslims were this much concerned about the passage he posted in a question paper, then why didn't they chop Sri P.T Kunjumuhammed, from whose book Jacob has taken the passage? Illiteracy or fancy to believe a hearsay and act insensibly to become saviors or heroes . Haven't have enough by this, one of the Popular Front’s zonal leader called a Police Officer in-charge and threatened him of his life. How could one explain that. Again spitting out grotesque lies that some others are trying to conspire against Islam. The call logs can be tracked back to this leader. The guys who were caught didn't show any remorse, they even admitted they would have chopped his head if there was the opportunity. Though Joseph forgave his assailants, the society won't. The ill doers deserve maximum punishment the law dictates, as this is rarest of the rarest mishap in a country which hails nonviolence and they proved themselves as ruthless antisocial elements. We should say no to extremism, terrorism, naxalism, thalibanism, summarily all “isams”. Live and let others live. Religion is for the good of man. Any man or woman can interpret it according to his /her faith and belief. All religions are supreme, if they hold in them broadminded followers who could love and contain others, irrespective of all their rational and irrational actions.
